Agora of Europe achieves record earnings at auction
Yesterday, December 19 2019, one of our Bid Books was auctioned for a good cause as part of the HAZ-Weihnachtshilfe (Christmas Aid). It was an original book in the German version, of which only 25 exist worldwide.
Representatives of the city society and those interested listened closely to the words of moderator Jan-Egge Sedelies on the stage of the HAZ-Weihnachtshilfe at the Marktkirche, who led relaxed and charming through the evening. Our team leader Melanie Botzki and the designer of the bid book Sebastian Peetz were called to the stage, both of whom have once again pointed out the special features of this unique book.
Shortly afterwards the time had come: Auctioneer Marco Krüger from Laatzen took the hammer in his hand and started the auction after a brief explanation of the procedure. The price quickly shot up over € 1,000 and a murmur went through the crowd. € 1,000 for a book?! Yes - but it was far from over. A bidding contest developed, which Michael Lohmann, founder of Hannover Concerts, finally won with an amount of € 2,400! An amount never paid for a bid book in the history of the European Capitals of Culture!
There was great applause afterwards and Michael Lohmann again emphasized that he is a great supporter of Hanover's application to become European Capital of Culture 2025: “I looked at the entire application process and found it great to emphasize the neighborhood and the feeling of togetherness in the city”, he told moderator Jan-Egge Sedelies.
We are very pleased that we were able to make such a contribution to HAZ-Weihnachtshilfe with this auction. We thank all the bidders and congratulate Michael Lohmann to his purchase!
The HAZ-Weihnachtshilfe donation account is open all year round. The IBAN number is: DE43 2505 0180 0000 5725 00 at Sparkasse Hannover.
