"Agora of Europe" wins iF Design Award 2020
Elaborate and artistic: the Hanover bid book stands out not only with its content, but also with its unique design. An international jury of experts has now determined this - and awarded the "Agora of Europe" the iF Design Award 2020. "I am very happy. The iF Design Award is one of the most important design awards in the world," says Sebastian Peetz, the designer and typographer of the bid book.
And the competition was fierce: the jury had to choose from just under 7,300 entries from 56 countries. The Hanover Bid Book was able to convince the 78-member, independent, international jury of experts with its innovative design, detailed typography and material.
The jury's statement also says about "Agora of Europe": "Hanover positions itself as a place where the problems of Europe can be raised and discussed. In the title, which recalls the Merzbau by the Hanoverian DaDa artist Kurt Schwitters and in whose fragments "Hannover" can be read and both the "abyss" before which the community of states stands and the modern agora become visible. Already when looking at the title, the concentrated power of this application becomes visible."
“The price shows that you paid off the involvement of the creative scene. I congratulate the designer Sebastian Peetz and I am very pleased that the iF design jury has honored the book as a total work of art in which form and content complement each other optimally. This prize is a great success for the entire team and an additional motivation boost for the application, ”said Mayor and CEO Belit Onay.
