Slovenian cities on the shortlist
It was announced yesterday that four of the six Slovenian bidding cities for the European Capital of Culture in 2025 have moved on to the second round: Ljubljana, Nova Gorica, Piran and Ptuj still have the chance to win the prestigious title. The ECoC Team Hannover 2025 warmly congratulates the cities!
The European Capital of Culture title is awarded to two cities in Europe each year. In 2025, Slovenia will have its second European Capital of Culture after Maribor in 2012. In addition to Hannover, Chemnitz, Hildesheim, Magdeburg and Nuremberg are also in the running in Germany, making it the fourth European Capital of Culture in 2025 after West Berlin in 1988, Weimar in 1999 and Essen (in association with the Ruhr area) in 2010.
