That's why we're still proud
Of course we are immensely disappointed. We all would have liked the decision to have turned out differently.
From the first moment in this competition we approached it differently than everyone else, we put everything on one card - and in the end we didn't make it.
Therefore: Congratulations to Chemnitz 2025! We were also impressed by your application and are looking forward to the European Capital of Culture 2025 with you!
We are still proud though. We have always given everything for our goal in every little moment. We have achieved positive changes in the city, created a new dynamic and energy of mutual inspiration and networking in the city. This becomes clear when you look at our City Visit, where people from all industries, scenes and institutions pulled together. And so we want to continue.
The basis for this is provides by the KEP, which was developed as part of our application by the cultural office of the state capital Hanover. It takes into account projects from our bid book, includes greater involvement of the region, draws on diverse international networks and much more.
Together with our Lord Mayor Belit Onay, we, the Hanoverians, will continue on the path we have chosen. Hand in hand with other cities, we will continue to move forward. We don't have to be the European Capital of Culture 2025 for this.
