Despite Corona: Here you can enjoy art & culture on the couch
Canceled concerts and canceled readings: Due to the corona virus, cultural life has largely stopped. But many artists don't get discouraged - and simply stream entire concerts via social networks. An overview.
"The concert halls are empty, listening and experiencing music together is not possible. That is sad, but necessary. And good thing. Nevertheless, I would like to continue to share music with you. Listen, experience. The way it works. So I try Something off: my house concert", wrote pianist and ambassador for Hanover's Capital of Culture application, Igor Levit, on March 12th. No sooner said than done: since then, the 33-year-old has been playing a concert every day at around 6:00 p.m. and broadcasting it live on Twitter. Here you can watch the concerts live.
The Hanover State Opera also places some of its art on the Internet. On Monday, interested parties were able to watch the premiere of the children's play "Counting and Telling" live on Facebook. Here you can watch the video of the broadcast.
Art on the couch
And the pavilion in Hanover also relocated an event to the Internet: "Grab something tasty to drink and snack on - we'll try something out," the pavilion team wrote on Facebook. Tom Uhlig, co-editor of the anthology "Extremely Useless", spoke there on Tuesday with pavilion employee Marcus Munzlinger about the subject of extremism. The event was streamed live on Facebook. You can watch the video of the broadcast here.
Reinhard Player, the director of the Sprengel Museum, even announces a whole series. So that there is some variety in the quarantine at home, the Sprengel Museum now regularly uploads short videos to Instagram. In the short "Sprengel Quarantine Clips" (#SQC) various works from the collection are presented. The first clip is about Alice Musiol's work "Untitled (parlor game)".
More: In our interview series "Vorwärts nach weit" we spoke with Reinhard players about politics in art and the Hanoverian scenes. Here is the interview.
Events all over Germany:
Pajama duty: The authors Jasmin Schreiber and Benjamin Maack will read from their books on Friday, March 20, 8 p.m. at Twitch and talk about their life with depression. You can follow the reading here.
Together with others, Jasmin Schreiber also launched the Twitter platform @streamkultur. "Necessity makes you inventive: Because of the Corona virus, we are all invited to #SocialDistancing. In order to stay afloat, many artists have started to stream. We give you an overview every afternoon of who streams where and when!" , the founders write on the channel. Here you can track who streams what and when.
In addition, "Spectyou", the first central streaming platform for drama, dance and performance, goes online on Thursday, March 19. You can find out more here.
