Visit to the jury: The date has been set
It is one of the political dates for the 2025 Capital of Culture application: the city visit of the jury. Now it is clear when the delegation will be in Hanover. Four members of the jury of people, a delegation from the European Commission and the Cultural Foundation of the Länder will be in Hanover on September 14th.
"What exactly the jury members can expect is not yet clear. But it is clear that we are sticking to our very successful line - both artistically and authentically,“ promises Konstanze Beckedorf, councillor for cultural affairs. The program is already being worked on just as intensively as the second bid book, which must be submitted on July 31 in Berlin. "Both must be from a single source," emphasize Inga Samii and Melanie Botzki from the European Capital of Culture bidding team.
"No classical sightseeing tour"
And anyone who has followed the bidding process up to now can be sure that something special will also be planned for the jury visit: "It will not be a classic sightseeing tour," promise the two women responsible for Hannover 2025 and announce: "Rather, the focus is on the places and the people who have to do with the bid in the most original sense."
The jury then visits another bidding city every day. After Hannover on September 14, the jury will travel to Hildesheim on September 15, Magdeburg on September 16, Chemnitz on September 17, and Nuremberg on September 18. On September 21st and 22nd, the final presentations will take place in front of the independent jury of cultural experts and finally on September 23rd it will be announced which German city, in addition to a Slovenian city, may be entitled "European Capital of Culture" in 2025. The Slovenian city will be announced in December 2020.
